Before she was Veruschka, she was Vera von Lehndorff, a German countess. The new name came about in the early 1960s, when she reinvented herself for the New York fashion scene. The rebrand came with a whole new persona as well - unlike Vera, was who was meek and mild, Veruschka was bold, edgy and fearless.
Capri, 1967. Off the runway, between shows, cigarette in hand. This one feels less like Veruschka and more like a glimpse of Vera.
