The French Riviera drew Woodward back again and again. Among his favorite stops: the Monte-Carlo Beach Club, known for its orange-and-white striped umbrellas. In the early 1970s - a decade prior - the club was home to the jet set crowd. The pool, views, and nearby clubs drew socialites from all over the world.
