Standing on the pit lane in his namesake white suit, goggles pushed up and gloves still on, McLaren carried the calm expression of a man who knew this was only the start.

Despite his 1966 loss at Monaco, Bruce McLaren went on to win four Grands Prix before his tragic death in 1970. He was only 32 years old.
